I have finished up 4 oz of dark BFL and the singles are still waiting to be plied with something. Not sure if I should ply them alone or spin up the 4 oz of light BFL that I have and ply the two together. Any thoughts?
Since nothing to exciting his happening here, thought I would share something from the past. :) I've uploaded a bunch of older photos onto flickr and I came across this one form the Irish Fair in MN. If I was the little girl, I think I would be jumping like that to....though I think I would do it as an adult as well. Sheep tend to do that to me.....
I've joined the Mystic light KAL that is starting on 03/26. We were provided with a swatch pattern to get ourselves ready/tempt us for the the first part of the pattern to be released. I have had some difficulties finding the perfect yarn for the KAL. What does mystic light mean anyway? So many different forms of light exist! This is what I found at Article Pract which I was very excited about when I found it:
Isn't it pretty with the mix of white with pinks, purples, reds and a dash of yellow.
Very mystic lightish is what I thought, like a spring sunset.
Not looking so bad as a yarn cake, like the color way still.
Then the swatch was made and I was unhappy. The coloring here is a bit off, think a little lighter.
All I could think was Pink barf. Sighs. Back to the drawing board! At least I have some new sock yarn to work with.
I did get something in the mail that picked up my spirits, roving form the Yarn Wench! Look at those colors!
Falkland Roving hand dyed by the Yarn Wench.
I have never spun Falkland before and I can't wait to give it a whirl. Just petting this stuff makes me want to move the the islands. Not sure if I could live in a place that small though...but if there were sheep in my backyard..... :)
Some days is hard to be a princess.
I personally much rather just be a dog, but there are those moments when I just want to relax and let my humans take care of me.
This combing thing is so nice!
Sara and Ted will sit with me and comb me over and over again.
If I look at them the right way when they stop, they will start right up again.
I help them with their duty by making sure that the area that I wanted combed is facing them and then I patiently wait for them to figure out where to go.
It just feels so good! I could live like this forever.
A gratuitous dainty paw shot.
I started hand combing (with a dog comb) the polwarth locks that I got at Stitches. It's very interesting to work with. Once you start working out the tips, it just poofs up on its own. Very yummy indeed.
This is my first time working with locks on my own. I have combed some others in classes, but I've never been compelled to purchase any until I found these.
Polwarth Locks from A Verb For Keeping Warm.
A very amusing Ruby moment occurred while I was working on my locks. Suddenly she took an interest in being combed herself. She's not a fan of the slicker brushes so I didn't think she would like the comb. Boy, was I wrong, she in in love with the thing. The other night, Ted combed her for about a half hour and she still wanted more. Silly little girl!
We have a large living room area that works as our dinning room/TV space/office/guest bedroom. There's a bay window that did not have anything it it after the Christmas tree came down this year and it was looking a little bare. Ted and I have been wanting to make a work space that we could use since the computer takes up most of the "office" desk. The lovely spring weather inspired us to make things a reality so that we could sit with the sun.
Our new table all ready to go. If you notice in the middle is one of Ted's models.
I thought it would be nice to share the space.
Sheepy go baaaaah.
Mmmmm.....yarn. Koigu and STR to be exact.
For some reason, my knitting and spinning tools have been growing and have been scattered about the apartment. To solve my problem of never having a scissors exactly where I need them to be, we also get a storage system.

We are looking for a way to get her plugged in. We only have 2 wall sockets and one floor socket to work with. the TV and computer take up the wall sockets and the one on the floor in in the middle of the room. Not very convenient if you know what I mean.

Another area in I have is for my roving stash. It's a small, simple little area, but it makes me happy to look at. I freshened up the look when I added by Stitches findings.
Oh, look at all that roving.
My very small drop spindle collection and some polwarth locks.
Such pretties! Merino, silk, Polwarth, and baby camel. Oh my!
A close of up the rest.
More merino, polwarth, BFL, angora/merino, alpaca, and some mystery wools as well.
Such happiness!
Can I just say that I am loving the weather here right now. Yet another great weekend to put in the books. A walk around the Cal campus created the following shots:
Inner peace
The fattest squirrel I know
Spring berries I shall not eat
Pink dew drop flowers
White lillies standing proud
Alone in the crowd
Velvet Petals
Little Blossoms
Some shades of gray
White among the green and brown
Hidden Treasures
Strong support
Playful puppy
Yep, that's right folks, I am an enabler. Well when it comes to all things fiber that is. Sunday was the monthly Spindles and Flyers meeting and I invited Maia and Kathleen to come. Renee was there too, but she's already a member so she wasn't technically a guest. :)
By the end of the meeting, Maia joined the guild and got herself a new Rick Reeves wheel. Lucky girl! I offered to foster it so she would not have to tell her hubby about it right away, but that did not work so well. I guess I will have to just go and visit it.
PS. Maia and Brooke's on-line shop, Tactile Fiber Arts, should be opening soon. If you like natural dyed roving and yarn, you should check them out. Very nummy indeed!
Okay, not sure why the whole thing is not showing. Basically, it's saying that there are 0 of me in the US. I wonder where I went?
I tried my maiden name and got the same thing:
I guess it's official. I have disappeared!
